  • PERCUSSION AUDITIONS

Percussionists click HERE for all your percussion audition and show music.

Our Three Percussion Mini-Camps will be held June 26, July 10, and July 24. These camps are not specifically required, but are recommended so that you can learn about playing style and ensemble development in the Georgia Tech Drumline. Please contact Chris Moore at chris.moore@music.gatech.edu with any questions.

    COLOR GUARD AUDITIONS

Those students interested in earning a spot on this year's guard may attend our Audition process , which will be held in two rounds on April 24 and May 1 from 9 AM - 4 PM.

If you are from out of town, you may submit a videotape. Requirements are listed below.

Please take the time to register for the audition on our GT Guard Information Page located at: http://www.gtband.net/ques/GTGuardInterest.php

    Auditionees from Georgia

WHO - High school seniors, students from Georgia Tech, and students enrolled in a Board of Regents University are eligible to audition.

WHAT - Please bring flags with which to audition as well as clothing that will be appropriate for movement and learning physical combinations and dance. Also, please bring medical insurance information so that you can fill out the necessary paperwork for the fall.

WHERE - Georgia Tech will host color guard tryouts for the 2010 season at O'Keefe Gymnasium. The street address is:

151 Sixth St., Atlanta, GA. Here is a link to the map showing the location of O'Keefe on the Tech campus: http://www.facilites.gatech.edu/campusmaps/bldngmodel.php?id=0033A

Auditionees outside the state (Video Requirements)

If you are an incoming Tech freshman or a cross-registration student from out of state, you will be allowed to submit a videotape of yourself performing on flag. We'll hold weapon auditions at Band Camp.

You'll need to demonstrate drop spins, peggy spins (aka overhand spins), cones, pull hits, thumb flips, and any other basic flag skills you may do at your school that would demonstrate your control/skill with the equipment.

You'll need to demonstrate that you're able to execute multiple tosses, including a basic pop toss, a standard double, a parallel toss, and a basic 45 toss.

You'll also need to perform a short piece of choreography to music. You can use whatever music you like. We're mainly looking to see that you can incorporate your body and your flag into the musical phrase. It doesn't need to be the craziest, trickiest thing you've ever done. You need to look in control of your body, your equipment and your performance quality at all times.

In the video, we'd prefer if you wear an all black, form fitting ensemble. Preferably capris or shorts with tights so that we can see your feet and ankles.

After we review your video, the guard staff will contact you about anything you might need to work on and notify you of your acceptance into the color guard.
